On July 26-27, 2013 in Tashkent was held a seminar on "Development of farming in Uzbekistan. Phase VI ”training seminar was held to improve the skills of employees of regional and district Farm Councils. The event was organized by the Farmers' Council of Uzbekistan, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The chosen topic of the seminar is very relevant for all regions of Uzbekistan where farming is developing and innovations are being introduced in the activities of farms. The seminar discussed the prospects for the development of "Extension Service" in the activities of regional Farm Councils. Identify the forms and methods of operation of this service.
An "extension service" is a service that should be a kind of link, a kind of "bridge" between the local community and the authorities. This service is designed to help the local population, solve the problems of farmers, entrepreneurs and the general population, provide information about new technologies and what regulations and laws are available today. The service's activities include studying the situation on the ground, analyzing existing problems, collecting data and reporting to the relevant authorities. Locals often do not know how to apply for this or that information, how to apply for this or that problem, how to make this or that proposal, where and to whom to contact with problems and questions.? An “extension service” is called to resolve such issues.
The seminar focused on important issues related to the measures taken to improve the existing regulations in connection with the development of farming in Uzbekistan.
The workshop was also attended by the Global Environment Facility's Small Grants Program team. We, in turn, talked about the program itself, the work being done in Uzbekistan, and best practices in the rational use of land, water and energy resources.

The workshop participants were introduced to the three main areas of PMG: land, energy, and biodiversity. News in the field of irrigated agriculture and zero tillage, the basics of phytomelioration of soils, laser leveling of fields, drip irrigation, restoration of land ecology by planting pistachios and saxaul in weak drought conditions, as well as topical issues referred to. innovations in the field of energy.

It should be noted that the participants of the seminar were very interested in the fact that the report repeatedly emphasized such important issues as saving natural resources, benefits and alternatives for farmers and farms.
Finally, the organizers presented a program of future training seminars in each of the twelve regions of Uzbekistan from June 30 to December 14. PMG plans to actively participate in future training seminars.
