Join the voluntary campaign for the improvement of the Ecocenter "Jeyran", dedicated to the celebration of the International Day of Biodiversity!

On May 17-18 this year, the GEF Small Grants Program, together with the "Jeyran" Ecocenter, with the support of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, is carrying out a charitable action - hashar - for the improvement of the Ecocenter, as well as the nearby ancient structure - sardoba.

Ecocenter "Jeyran" is a republican research and production center for the conservation of rare species of animals. It is engaged in breeding rare species of animals, as well as preserving the natural desert habitats of the southwestern part of the Kyzyl Kum desert. Volunteers regularly come to the Ecocenter and help in a variety of activities. This time, help is needed in cleaning the channel leading to the watering place for wild animals, as well as in restoring the road along which the inspection and monitoring routes pass.

Sardoba is an ancient hydrological structure designed to store water. This reservoir is a trench dug and paved with bricks, in which water is collected, and a dome built over the pit. Sardoba is a vivid example of the rational use of water resources of our ancestors, which remains relevant in our time. Not far from the Ecocenter near the city of Karaulbazar, there is a perfectly preserved sardoba of the 16th century, which needs cleaning and improvement.

The action is dedicated to the International Day of Biodiversity, and all its activities are aimed at helping nature and environmental protection. If you also want to help nature, join us!

Preliminary program:

1. Arrival at the Ecocenter "Jeyran" (Bukhara region) - on May 16 in the evening or on May 17 early in the morning;
2.May 17-18 - Promotion. It is planned to carry out the following works:

a. cleaning the watering hole of wild animals;
b. road restoration;
c. improvement of the territory around sardoba.

3. Departure on May 18 in the evening.

Participants without registration are not accepted.

List of necessary things:

1. Documents, money for food.
2. Mug, spoon, bowl and knife.
3. Personal hygiene products, medicines.
4. Sleeping bag, cushion, tent.
5. Clothes and footwear must be suitable for field conditions. Shoes - preferably boots or fully closed sneakers, clothes should have long sleeves, trousers.
6. Sunglasses, headwear (cap), sunscreen.
7. Construction gloves.

Important details

1. Travel and food expenses are at the expense of the participant.
2. The cost of food will cost 13-15 thousand soums for the entire stay at the Ecocenter.
3. The most convenient transport to the Ecocenter is by train. You arrive at the Bukhara railway station (this is the city of Kagan), then at the station take a minibus to Karaulbazar. The Ecocentre office is located on the highway on the road to Karaulbazar.

The approximate cost of Tashkent-Bukhara railway tickets: reserved seat - 42-43 thousand soums one way, compartment - 65 thousand soums also one way. It is better to buy tickets directly at the railway ticket office. The cost from the station to the Ecocenter will cost 3.5 thousand sums one way.

Pre-registration will allow us to organize a joint purchase of tickets and, accordingly, a general check-out.
