The GEF Small Grants Programme

in Uzbekistan

In this brochure, the famous scientist of Uzbekistan V.A. Burygin sums up the main results of the study of wild fibrous plants in Uzbekistan, reveals the ways of their use, stocks of raw materials and harvesting conditions. Currently, the situation in this area, unfortunately, is quite different. Many modern rural residents have not even heard of many of the plant species presented in the brochure. While these species may be of some economic interest, and their environmental benefits are simply phenomenal due to their high tolerance (stability) to growing on saline lands, the number of hectares of which is currently steadily growing.

The brochure was published back in 1942 by the then UzFAN publishing house in Tashkent.

This brochure is presented in a scanned version of the printed version, which makes it interesting, "alive" and to some extent conveys the spirit of that time.
