The GEF Small Grants Programme

in Uzbekistan

Hi there! We are looking for talent!

Our committee has 2 vacancies. We are looking for people who are not indifferent to what environmental problems will be in our country in the future.
GEF is looking for active people who want to be created to fill vacant, voluntary and free positions of the members of the Coordinating Committee of the SGP, who care about the welfare of the country and the preservation of the nature of Uzbekistan.

GEF SGPcarries out small but concrete work to preserve the nature of the country - the fertile soil, water, energy and wildlife of the motherland. We promote new technologies and practices in the use of natural resources. You can learn about our work on our website. Recently, we have been working with agricultural landscapes and mainly our activities are directly or indirectly related to agriculture. But that doesn’t mean we’re just doing it. We are committed to preserving our soil, water, energy and biodiversity.

Who are we looking for? For those unfamiliar with the mechanism of action of the Committee, a brief introduction is required. The mechanism of the Global Environment Facility (GEF SGP) Small Grants Program is very simple and effective. The committee, on the other hand, plays a major and very important role in this mechanism. In fact, the Committee provides strategic guidance to the Program. That's why we need people who are very active, who think, who can express their views, who can justify them. It is up to the Committee members to decide which technologies and practices need to be supported, and it is up to the Committee to determine how the Program will benefit the country and its nature.

Below are 2 visual diagrams of how our Program works, it will be useful and fun to see and learn them. To understand the role of the committee, it is important to consider them. The key. Project decisions are made by the committee.

I must say right away that this is a job that requires time and mind. But this free labor is your contribution to the well-being and prosperity of your country. Therefore, if you want to dedicate a part of your time to this business and ask for nothing in return, we would be happy to see you. Lots of work, but unfortunately no pay.

Most likely, this ad is for people who already have their own source of income, and they can dedicate some of their time to the public interest. Or for fans who understand the importance of protecting nature in any situation and don’t demand payment for their efforts. You can get deep spiritual satisfaction from this work only if you do something important and necessary for the country.

To determine how long this can last and how long it can last, you need to make a few points:

• Communication with committee members is usually by e-mail. An idea or a draft is developed and the National Coordinator sends it to all committee members. A committee member should take the time to read, think, and express their thoughts, doubts, and questions on projects and ideas.

• Once the projects are ready, the Committee will meet live as soon as they are ready, and the meeting will be conducted through a simple, open discussion, discussion and decision-making on each project.

• Once a year, you will need to set aside a few days for a monitoring visit on projects. Sometimes these can be 1-2 day separate trips for individual projects.

• You may also be required to participate in various activities conducted by the GEF SGPor in which the Program participates.

And so,

The Global Environment Facility (GEF SGP) Small Grants Program in Uzbekistan announces another vacancy for two members of the National Coordination Committee.

According to our rules, each member of the committee works in the committee for a maximum of 3 years. Then we have to call another election.

More formal and detailed information about the committee can be found in the “Our Committee” section.

In addition to the Committee's extensive day-to-day work on reviewing and approving projects, the Committee also has the following roles:

1. Committee members serve as specific “agents” of theGEF SGP. They promote GEF SGPideas, information about our technologies and practices, and GEF SGPopportunities for potential grant recipients. People can ask for help in identifying obscure details about the program, and for advice on how to properly formulate project goals and objectives. Of course, for this to happen, the committee members themselves need to know everything about the program.

2. Committeea members should seek opportunities to engage partners and donors to implement current or planned projects throughout their routine activities.

3. Committee members review the implementation of the entire program. Once a year, committee members visit the GEF SGPprojects for monitoring. Believe me, everyone learns a lot from such trips. it expands horizons and insights into how people live and what matters to people right now.

The selection of the members of the Committee will take place after the presentation of the country program by the Permanent Representative of the United Nations in Uzbekistan and the GEF SGPHeadquarters in New York.

With this announcement, we are announcing a competition to fill the vacancies of the Committee members.

According to the SGP, a majority of the Committee members must be representatives of the non-governmental sector. These are. committee members should not work in a government structure. Members are assigned from the Government to the Appointment Committee. We are currently looking for non-governmental sector representatives.
