As a result of many factors, some areas of the country are experiencing shortages of electricity and gas. The shortage is most acute in the winter season in rural areas, affecting the most vulnerable poor segments of the population. Villagers are forced to collect firewood by cutting down trees. One of the most pressing problems for rural areas is ensuring energy supply to greenhouse farms. Greenhouses are one of the widespread ways of generating income for the rural population and are very important for improving the well-being of the rural population. However, greenhouse farms, due to gas shortages in winter, are disconnected from the gas network.
An equally significant problem is the lack of information about available renewable and energy-efficient technologies. This is especially important for agriculture. Agriculture plays an important role for Uzbekistan in terms of employment, rural welfare, food security, self-sufficiency and exports.
One of the ways to mitigate the problem of energy supply to greenhouse farms is the dissemination of renewable and energy-efficient technologies among the rural population engaged in greenhouse farming. Alternatives allow the use of renewable energy sources (solar, biomass) or more efficient use of existing ones (firewood, coal, solid biomass of plant origin).
The project proposes to promote the following alternatives:
These technical solutions will partially solve the problem of energy supply for greenhouses farms, improve and expand the power supply capabilities of greenhouses.
