People of various professions have their professional holiday. There is such a holiday for people who are engaged to conserve nature. More precisely, it is not even a holiday of people, but of the nature itself. This day - June 5 – is the World Environment Day.

Events that are designed to attract public attention, of all the people towards Environment issues take place every year on this day around the world. Unfortunately, very often, we begin to appreciate something once after we lost it. The work of people concerned with the protection of nature, is aimed at preventing of such a post-factum regret, aimed at preserving all living creatures on the earth, in a particular country, in a given area, region, city, village, a patch of land. Every living organism in every part of our planet has its own destination. If we kill something, tomorrow this "something" will not fulfill its functions and it will get to all of us down the chain. It is often convenient to pretend that it does not concern us or that we are not responsible for it. A holiday on June 5 is aimed to change this attitude towards the nature.
In order to bring up a harmonically developed generation, State Committee for Nature Protection (www.uznature.uz), with the support of the UN Development Programme (www.undp.uz), Small Grants Program of the Global Environment Facility (www.sgp.uz), the Youth Environmental Network of Uzbekistan, the UN Information Center (www.un.uz) and the Society for the Protection of Birds of Uzbekistan hold the celebration of World Environment Day for the residents and guests of the capital.
The celebration will be held at the municipal park named after Mirzo Ulugbek (formerly Telman park), on June 5. Opening ceremony is scheduled at 11:00 am. It is expected that dear guests and organizers of the celebration will perform, namely, we expect that a speech will be made by:
Razzakov Hamrabay Rakhimovich, Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Water Management and Ecology of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Nariman Madzhitovich Umarov, chairman of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Anita Nirody, UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan
Then the program will be developed. The program consists of a set of music and intellectual contests in an interactive way for young people and adults. Here are some of the contests that await guests of the festival:
Eco-Taxi departs from the park entrance and can deliver you anywhere in the park! During the "trip" you will have a unique opportunity to receive valuable prizes by answering a number of environmental issues.
Do not be surprised or afraid if in the park you meet a group of young men with burning eyes – they are participants of the team game Ecocitybe, which has started at 11:00. Guys have to perform several tasks, and must be the first to come to the finish. Let us support them and come to look at the awarding ceremony to be held on the stage at 17:40!
In a small area near the lake a fascinating journey into the world of birds awaits for you, where, armed with binoculars and a locator, you can calculate how many of these beautiful creatures are hiding among the branches. And some other interesting and exciting contests and activities are waiting for you in this point in which you can also win valuable prizes.
Also in different parts of the park you will find a table of questions and answers, where you can learn more about the problems of land degradation, climate change and biodiversity. And answering the test questions, you can win valuable environment prizes.
This time interesting events will be waiting for children in the playground of the park. Here is the leader of the Redskins who will tell fascinating legends about the life of animal and plant, as well as watching of eco-cartoons, and the opportunity to hear answers to all the questions, as well as a creative corner where your children can fully use their irrepressible imagination and energy!
An interesting program is scheduled for the whole day. The competitions will be both on stage, in the middle of the park, and in all its parts. All competitions will be related to the theme of the nature. Winners of the competitions will be awarded with good prizes.
During the day, children's groups will perform on the scene. At about 15:00 KVN team "Alo" will start its performance. Then the program will be continued by Uzbek pop stars - Sherzod, Rukhshona, Oikhon Ifarzoda, Ziyoda, Roxana, Sirojiddin. The presenter of day program is Said Khudoiberganov.
Starting from 18:00, we expect everyone to visit a concert of live music with the participation of various youth groups. There will be a lively, exciting music. Special for you the following groups will perform: 6th floor, "Electro Spell", Spirit experience, Lion's Hearts, TS Band, vasCERmann and moNNo. The concert will end at about 10 pm. The presenter of the evening program is Igor Gankin.
