The Global Environment Facility Small Grants Program (PMGEF) in Uzbekistan, supported by PROON, together with the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Republic of Uzbekistan, announces

COMPETITION FOR CREATING EXERCISES FOR STUDENTS

ON THE BIODIVERSITY OF THE NATIVE LAND

Within the framework of one of the PMGEF projects in Uzbekistan, the Database "Fauna of the Nuratau ridge, South-Eastern Kyzyl Kum and Aydaro-Arnasay system of lakes" was created. The database is posted on the official website of the PMGEF in Uzbekistan sgp.uz and is available in two language versions on the page: sgp.uz/base.

The database contains unique material describing the fauna of mountain, desert and lake ecosystems of the Nurata ridge and Aydar-Arnasay system of lakes. The database includes names, descriptions, photographs, sound recordings and video materials on the animals in the area. In fact, this database covers and describes most of the fauna of the whole of Uzbekistan.

All this information can and should be used to educate the younger generation. However, any information should be presented in an interesting way, so that students want to learn about the fauna of their native land, be interested in biodiversity, and study the available materials with interest. For this, this competition is being created.

The competition is held among teachers and teachers of secondary schools, colleges and lyceums, as well as teachers from higher educational institutions and other interested parties. It is expected that the contestants will be able to come up with, develop creative, interesting exercises and assignments for students. Exercises and assignments should be created using the materials of the Database "Fauna of the Nuratau ridge, South-Eastern Kyzylkum and Aydar-Arnasay system of lakes".

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION

Raising the level of knowledge and fostering a more reverent and thrifty attitude of young people to the nature of their native land using the created database

Creation of a set of methodological exercises and assignments for students using a multimedia product - Databases of the animal world

Stimulating and enhancing the innovative activity of teachers of educational institutions in the field of biological and environmental education

OBJECTIVES OF THE COMPETITION

Identify and award the winners with valuable prizes, present a participant certificate and send a letter of thanks to the place of work

Record the exercises and assignments that won the competition on a disk and, together with the Database (disk), distribute to schools

Increasing the effectiveness of cooperation of the GEF Small Grants Program with the support of PROON in Uzbekistan with the Ministry of Public Education and authorities aimed at raising awareness of students and the population on the importance of biodiversity conservation, environmental protection and sustainable development

• The best comprehensive methodology for using the materials of the Database;

• Best animal class exercise;

• Best multimedia task;

• Best Graphic Exercise;

• Best extracurricular activity;

• For creative disclosure of the topic.

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITION WORKS

The main requirement for the work is the maximum use and involvement of the database materials and each class of animals. The exercises can be applied to each class of animal.

To participate in the nomination, the contestants submit:

• Description of the methodological development or exercise in electronic form;

• If desired, visual materials on the topic can be presented: video - no more than 5 minutes, etc.

TERMS OF PARTICIPATION IN THE COMPETITION

The works of teachers and teachers of Uzbekistan, as well as other interested persons are accepted for the competition.

in the period from April 15 to May 15, 2014.

The presented exercises and tasks (work) should be developed only to use the information of the Database and make it possible to answer and solve the assigned tasks in any form (drawing, written answer, etc.)

Materials (exercises and tasks) for participation in the competition will be accepted in Uzbek, Russian and Karakalpak languages.

Materials sent to the competition are not subject to return and are not reviewed. The organizers of the competition reserve the right to publish and distribute the materials of the winners of the competition, undertaking to properly indicate their authorship, as well as to use the exercises without the additional consent of the participants in the competition and to repeat them for other similar purposes. Submissions after the competition will be posted are available on the official website of the PMGEF in Uzbekistan: sgp.uz

SUMMARIZING THE RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION will be held in May 2014, which will be announced on the website of the GEF SGP.

According to the results of the competition, a separate place is awarded in each nomination. The winners of the competition are awarded valuable prizes and special certificates. All other participants in the competition receive certificates. Certificates and a collection of the best methodological developments will be sent to all participants of the competition within a month after its completion.
