On May 28, 2008, we officially opened in Uzbekistan. Praising yourself will probably not be entirely correct. But still, we would like to say a few words about those areas where we managed to leave our mark. Have we left him? Maybe yes. But let's start from the beginning.

Not many people know us in Uzbekistan because the GEF SGP is a small "fish" in the ocean of "fish" of international assistance to Uzbekistan, such as the World Bank, Asian Bank, UNDP, European Union, GIZ and others. Of course, the figures of millions of dollars for large investment projects look much more impressive than our figures. Over these 10 years, the GEF SGP has brought funds from the GEF to the country, only in the amount of $ 2.7 million. And was able to raise another 8.5 million dollars from other sources. Slightly over 11 million in 10 years. For many politicians and statesmen, this may seem like just a drop in the ocean. But we want to believe that our "drop" has helped many people in this country and played as a "butterfly effect" for many good undertakings in Uzbekistan. Let's take a closer look at this.

Our Program does not work with the government, like other players in this market, but directly with people - it carries out small projects at the level of villages, institutions, farms. With people who "poke around", "swarm" with their ideas, on their plots and lands, trying to do something differently. Already, a priori, fate has written us to work with unusual people. After all, who wants to change something, who wants to get out of the "comfort zone" (I don't like this fashionable expression), these are leaders, they are fidgets. These are unusual people. This means that it is interesting to work with them.

The goal of the Program is to promote innovative practices that are weak for one reason or another, but which can help conserve or properly manage natural resources. Show some how it is possible to work with natural resources, show how beneficial it is, and so that others themselves begin to repeat these practices.

What do we hope for and what is the point?

We hope that the eccentrics who are the first to start something, they will succeed, they will earn money, their neighbors will see what they have done, and begin to copy them, repeat after them. That the more simple households, businesses, farmers repeat such practices, the more natural resources will be put in order. Those. We hope to scale from the repetition of successful practices.

We have had many projects aimed at different technologies. There have been successes and failures. But even "failures" we regard as successes. Because we have learned a lot and received many lessons, with which we constantly share.

Let's take a look at some of the practices we've worked with.

Pistachio

Some of the first projects were pistachio projects. It was then that we met a team of foresters who have been trying for decades to promote this practice - planting pistachios in our foothills where there is no water. Nothing else grows on these lands, but pistachio grows. So why aren't they planted? Pistachio gives its first harvest in 6 years. And we calculated in our projects that pistachio for 18 years gives more money than anything else that you can grow on such land or do with this land. Do anything, but pistachio will still be more profitable! Despite the fact that the first 6 years are empty. And only when we trumpeted about it, everyone became interested in pistachio. And off we go ... And now there are already a lot of state programs for planting pistachios on thousands of hectares. It all started with ordinary people - Bastamkul Saidkulova (Jizzakh), Miss Pistachio - she is Galina Mikhailovna Chernova, Lyudmila Mikhailovna Mikhailova (unfortunately, now deceased), Evgeny Konstantinovich Botman, Lucian Viktorovich Nikolai, Timur Tulyaganov, Lazokim Nasriddinov (she is Lisa) and many others. Лазерная планировка с/х полей

Технологию, которая сохраняет 25-30% поливной воды, начала проталкивать ННО КРАСС из Хорезма. Технология также не нова, но не все хотят это делать. Потому что дополнительный расход топлива, вроде бы прямых выгод – никаких. А как посчитали, во сколько выливается её применение, начались сдвиги. ННО КРАСС посчитала, что если технология будет применяться всеми фермерами Хорезма, то через 3 года область будет иметь дополнительно 18.5 миллионов долларов чистой прибыли. Сейчас лазерка всё ещё слабо развита, но уже более уверенно продвигается по стране.

Биогаз

Пожалуй самая успешная биогазовая установка, которая работает как часы уже многие годы (наверное 7-8 лет прошло со дня завершения её строительства), была построена при помощи ПМГ ГЭФ в Сырдарье. А сейчас биогазом уже занимаются многие. Есть государственная программа, есть фирмы, которые строят их, есть фермеры, которые понимают толк в этой технологии. Были проекты ПРООН и Всемирного Банка по этой тематике, которые подняли эту технологию на новый уровень в Узбекистане.

Аквакультура

Наши учёные – Ибрагим Халилов и Бахтияр Комилов, при помощи ПМГ ГЭФ опробовали Установку замкнутого водоснабжения (УЗВ) – технологию выращивания рыбы в замкнутых условиях, и вывели эту технологию на уровень нормально отработанной практики.

Сомики плодятся и множатся

Микрогидростанции

Мы построили их несколько. Получалось по разному – и успешно, и не очень. Но выучили одно – эта технология реально нужна нашим людям.

Запустили первую микрогидростанцию в поселке Чош, Узунского р-на, Сурхандарьинской области.

Капельное орошение

Опять же, ПМГ ГЭФ была пионером и стояла у истоков развития этого направления в стране. Много было пропаганды, статей о необходимости этой технологии. Слава богу идёт, продвигается технология. И не без нашего участия.

Можно долго перечислять – изоляция ирригационных каналов, энергосберегающие печки, экотуризм, пчеловодство, лесовосстановление, дровяные плантации, индиго, теплицы, форель, питомники растений, микроводоросли для сельского хозяйства, брикетирование, саксаул – не забыть бы чего.. Сейчас ПМГ ГЭФ активно занимается продвижением почвозащитного земледелия в Узбекистане. С отличным партнёром – ФАО. Мы хотим, чтобы технология нулевого посева культур, мульчирование, ротация культур и сидерация, стали рутинными практиками наших фермеров. Работы много.

А пока, давайте сделаем несколько взглядов назад, на то, что мы сделали. Мы хотим до 28 мая написать несколько простых статей, которые расскажут, чем мы занимались за эти 10 лет. Целая декада. Про наши технологии, про наших людей.
