This publication is the result of analytical work carried out as part of the preparatory phase of the UNDP project "Support for Sustainable Livestock Development in Uzbekistan". The purpose of the publication is to show the current state, trends in the development of animal husbandry in the country and the main problems existing in this area. At the same time, the analysis of the issues of the state and development of the industry was carried out taking into account:
a) features, development trends and problems of the agricultural sector as a whole, since without this it is impossible to understand many of the features and problems of animal husbandry;
b) the specifics of the two main categories of livestock producers - dekhkan and farm enterprises;
c) the social role of animal husbandry.
