Last week (on 4 September 2009) a regular meeting of the GEF SGP NSC was held for considering the projects which were submitted in August. Two projects were on the agenda, one of which was approved.

The approved project was directed to creation of a demonstration biogas installation in Syrdarya region, on a base of the farm “Nadejda”. It should be mentioned that the GEF SGP strategy is to have one model installation in each region of the Republic, so that any farmer, any enthusiast from this or that region shouldn’t to go somewhere far, but come to his/her region and see with own eyes how biogas installation works. And not only see but learn because all our projects are directed exactly on it – to show and teach.

In this project a biogas installation will be created on the base of an average farm. An installation itself will be created, as well as all materials will be prepared, so that all interested farmers of Khavast region and possibly of the whole Syrdarya region could learn how to make the same in their farm.

The thoughts of farmers usually are of the following type: “We hear a lot about biogas but we have never seen it working anywhere. If we see it with own eyes we will be sure that it works, we’ll make the same in our farms.” The project is implemented exactly for this purpose.
