The GEF Small Grants Programme

in Uzbekistan

Choose between gef and educational organizations to write a PMGEF strategy

Everyone who reads our site is familiar with the activities of PMGEF in Uzbekistan. We gave our first grant in October 2008. This year marks 7 years since we started helping communities across Uzbekistan. Since then, we have supported 73 projects, and their number is growing every month. Below you can download a brief presentation about the Program and its performance indicators.

- Presentation of data and figures on PMGEF in Uzbekistan at the end of the OP5 period

Every 4 years, PMGEF writes a policy document regulating the thematic direction of the Program work in the country. Previously, two strategies were written, according to which the Program has worked to this extent in Uzbekistan. You can see them here.

GEF is now entering a new budget phase, the 6th budget period of its work for 4 years - 2015-2019. As a corporate GEF program, PMGEF should also define the basis of its work for this period (OP6). If earlier the Strategy was written through the efforts of the PMGEF team, this time it was decided to announce a competition between NGOs and academic structures to write the PMGEF Strategy.

We are announcing such a competition and are looking for a highly qualified organization that is able to do the job.

The service organization must have the following powers:

• Proven capacity for strategic thinking and analysis;

• Proven experience of working with the community and their initiatives;

• Expertise on global issues of environment and sustainable development;

• experience in landscape management;

• Proven capacity to create high-quality research and the ability to perceive, analyze, and synthesize large amounts of complex data within defined time constraints;

• Strong presentation skills and facilitation of discussion processes;

• Excellent skills in writing environmental policy and delivering relevant materials to a variety of audiences, including civil society institutions and decision makers.

• Excellent comprehension of information and writing final products (reports, strategies, etc.) in English, Russian and Uzbek.

Interested organizations should write an application detailing the assignment, timeline, and strategy for the budget. The organization should also provide a letter of introduction as to why the applicant should be selected for the job, including the issues of authority given to the applicant organization, as mentioned above.

The deadline for applications for this grant is July 31, 2015. All questions and applications should be sent to the e-mail address of PMGEF National Coordinator Alexei Volkov - alexey.volkov@undp.org.
