Kumyshkan – the first educational seminar of the project for mini energy devices

Not far from Chatkal state nature reserve and a little bit far from our native Tashkent city there is Kumyshkan mountain village. About 2000 people live here. Most residents are engaged in cattle breeding, and everything would be good - mountain air, own land, friendly neighbors, etc. However 30% of the residents do not have gas and some houses are not provided with electricity. Therefore, many residents have to cut trees in the mountains in the buffer zone of Chatkal nature reserve in order to cook and heat their houses.

There are a lot of such settlements along Uzbekistan. Our project, which is aimed at introduction of small-scale, cheap, alternative and power efficient technologies, was developed exactly for such places. The instruction for production of various installations has been already developed by the project and now only training of people remained.

It is planned by the project that the guys will carry out training in 5 regions of the country in order to spread the information as widely as possible. And the villages around the protected areas have been selected as the demonstration sites. And so, the first pilot village has followed the first course of the training!
Last week, the friendly project team has visited the village Kumyshkan to tell and teach the residents how to master their own alternative and power efficient technologies. And how to use them in everyday life, which is very important!
The training was conducted for two groups - for children in the local schools and for adults who could potentially become the masters, who will make these units for the residents of nearby villages. The local residents were a bit skeptic, but when they saw with their own eyes that the kettle is boiling in winter on a solar oven, their skepticism was gradually replaced by interest.

Together with the adults and children, during one week, the team has made 8 solar stoves of a box-type, 5 solar stoves of parabolic type, 2 briquette making machines and 2 energy effective heating stoves. The guys taught people how to use these technologies and told how many benefits they can have. Somebody even intended to make "somsa" in the solar oven of a box type. It is a pity that our oven is not able to provide such high temperature, which is required for it. But on the other hand the temperature in the oven of parabolic type can reach 200 degrees centigrade.

We hope that the interest of the local masters and children will live, and they will teach to make the alternative technologies to their neighbors and their future children. It is so easy, at all!!!
And the villages Ukhum, Karapchi, Gilan, Tallik are waiting for our project!
